Tummy Tuck Surgery Introduction

Anyone who’s had a baby or experienced fast weight loss will know what it’s like to look in the mirror and feel self conscious about the excess skin or stretchmarks around the abdominal area. This embarrassment can restrict what you wear and even where you go.

Don’t let your tummy dictate to you. A tummy tuck will effectively give you back the sleek, contoured body you had previously.

  • A tummy tuck will restore your body shape and get rid of unsightly excess skin following weight loss or pregnancy.
  • Your tummy muscles will be tightened during the procedure and stretch marks will be removed.
  • The tummy tuck is not a weight loss method. If you’re looking to remove excess tummy fat, please see the section on lipo surgery.

Patient Stories

  • Following the birth of my son 4 years ago I had become very conscious of the loose stretched skin around my abdomen. No amount of diet or exercise seemed to help and it was affecting my confidence.

I had my Lipoabdominoplasty and am so thrilled with the results, not only do I now have a flat stomach, I also have definition and a waist line I could only have dreamt of.

I cannot recommend Mr Evriviades enough, my journey from consultation through to discharge was completely faultless and if I ever have surgery in the future I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Additional Information

  1. Under general anaesthetic, your abdomen will be cut in order for the surgeon to access the skin tissue and muscle inside.

  2. Once the contouring has taken place, you will be stitched up and it’s possible you’ll be hooked up to drainage tubes for a few days.

  3. After the bruising and swelling has gone down, you will have a noticeably flatter stomach, with greatly reduced excess skin.

FAQs

  • How much hospital time does a tummy tuck involve?

The operation lasts 2 to 3 hours and you’ll be in hospital for 1-2 nights. Expect to be off work for 2-3 weeks

    What happens during the operation?

You will have general anaesthetic. Your loose, lower abdominal skin will be removed and your slack tummy muscles will be tightened and returned to the midline. Stretch marks will be moved downwards and hidden as the skin is stretched.
